Gaga over the Grammy's

Woah. I've never actually sat down and watched a whole viewing of the Grammy Awards but last night I remained glued to the television until it was over. With the company of my suitemates and my friend Brian, we watched anxiously and loved every second of it. Time magazine released an article online about the Best & Worst of the 2011 Grammys. Check it.
Gaga may have emerged from an egg for her performance of "Born This Way" which was more than odd but some people are claiming that the song was a rip off of Madonna's "Express Yourself" and even Madonna's brother was interviewed saying so. He was quotes saying "Lady Gaga goes through styles like my sister goes through Brazilian boyfriends." Ouch. But check this, Lady Gaga told Jay Leno that Madonna actually contacted her saying she loved the song. Read about it here. Besides the shoulder horns, I enjoyed the performances and the song. Maybe it is Madonnaesque but there are many differences between the two pop icons. Nothing makes me laugh more than this video I found on YouTube vid of Lady Gaga in her egg, yes she would not leave the egg. So odd but hilarious because who else would do something like this?
Cee Lo Green's did an incredible yet creepy muppet performance of his hit song "Fu-- You" was changed to "Forget You" with Gwyneth Paltrow! Yes Gwyneth can sing and wear the highest of heels if you didn't notice. I envy her style. The muppets creeped me out but what was even more alarming was Cee Lo's Sesame Street/King Kong feathered outfit. Gotta give the man credit for wearing that craziness.
Beiber fans were dissapointed to see the little guy lose to Esperanza Spalding but they went too far and hacked onto her Wikipedia page and wrote Beiber for Lyff and other obnoxious things. This woman is talented and an established Jazz musician. The first Jazz musician to win Best New Artist in 30 years, I'm pretty sure. Even though I never heard of her before the Grammys, I'm always a fan of the underdog. She even performed for Obama. Her hair is amazing too.
My favorite performance would have to go to Rihanna and Drake for "What's My Name?" because Rihanna is one fine individual and Drake is not so bad himself plus I'm obsessed with the song. Even the chemistry was amazing on stage between Ri Ri and Drake until he ran off somewhere. I also really liked the performance of Dolly Parton's "Joline" by Norah Jones, John Mayer, and Keith Urban. I even listened to it while I was getting ready for work this morning.

Cannot wait for the Oscars! <3

Well I am currently at my internship and it is time to get back to work.

Good bye lovers.

Catching up

First off, Hosni Mubarak stepped down today after a 30-year-reign as the President of Egypt. As my good friend Alexsis put it, power to the people. This actually shows that with enough support, people can make a difference. Check out Obama's remarks on the news.

Wow it has been a while since my last update. I have been all sorts of busy these past few weeks figuring out my schedule as well as the Defender website, which is up and runnning by the way! ... with a few kinx to figure out but by next Tuesday, everything should be working great. Dreamweaver is a pain in the ass sometimes so I have to be patient.
The Student Global AIDS Campaign conference at Harvard was a great learning experience. I went with about ten other students, Prof. Siplon aka Trish and her friend Siham who actually lives in Quincy, MA (where I lived from when I was born to age 3). It was great to meet some new people interested in SGAC not just from St. Mike's but from Dartmouth, Univ. of Florida, Harvard, Yale, etc. Ivy leagues big time. I learned a lot about strategizing, bird-dogging, and what to do to get others involved in the campaign. In an exercise we did on explaining how you got involved in the movement, I was teamed up with a girl who is a first-year at Dartmouth who is originally from Pasedena, Calif. It was great to share ideas and learn about life in the west coast a little as well. I NEED to go there, it just has to be done soon especially since it literally hasn't stopped snowing in abour two weeks... ok exaggeration but seriously I'm sick of it. All my shoes are getting ruined :( Devestating, I know. Back to the conference... we ended up staying at Alexsis' house in Milford which is only a few T stops from Harvard Square. Her mom was a sweetheart and I got to meet her sis, Lydia too (mini taller version of Alexsis). One night after the conference, Sarah, Alyssa, Ann Marie, and I decided after a few drinks at Unos that we were going to see what Harvard parties has to offer. When in Rome right? It was an interesting scene, let me tell you. We walk in to an apartment style house which led us to a dorm room/apartment with flashing lights, free drinks, and a whole lotta people. They even showed us a room where we can put our coats. Classy. We caught a cab back to Alexsis' around 12:30 and things just got better from there. Ann Marie initiated a conversation with the Haitian cab driver about global health issues and..... well let's just say it didn't really go anywhere but hey what do you expect from a few SGACers?
Life at St. Mike's is great despite my very small bank account and thigh high snow. But good news! I started my internship at a non-profit in Williston called Vermont Family Network and I am actually here right now blogging to all you folks. Everyone seems very nice. Check out the link I posted to their homepage. The people here work on promoting better health and education for young adults and children with special needs.
Oh! and I also got a job at PK Cafe, right across the street from campus. Great, huh? Gas prices are supposed to be going up so I am very happy to only be using my car to get to my internship on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Fridays and downtown from time to time.
My first day at PK was yesterday and things went very well. I kept up with the rush of people who came in for $1 slices and the other employees taught me a lot about writing orders, cleaning, and what to do when closing. Hopefully, I will be able to make some food soon! I am working tonight from 6-close which is usually 9 and Saturday too from 10-3.
Well... that is about it for now. I am a busy girl but everything seems to be working out fine except maybe not that test I took on Thursday... I had to know every country in the world. It was a struggle but I hope I passed.
Check up for pics soon! I have a lot to post :)

Also, I bought some fabulous homemade earrings from Alicia Pacelli today in Alliot. You go girl. You should all check out her collection!
