Woah. I've never actually sat down and watched a whole viewing of the Grammy Awards but last night I remained glued to the television until it was over. With the company of my suitemates and my friend Brian, we watched anxiously and loved every second of it. Time magazine released an article online about the Best & Worst of the 2011 Grammys. Check it.
Gaga may have emerged from an egg for her performance of "Born This Way" which was more than odd but some people are claiming that the song was a rip off of Madonna's "Express Yourself" and even Madonna's brother was interviewed saying so. He was quotes saying "Lady Gaga goes through styles like my sister goes through Brazilian boyfriends." Ouch. But check this, Lady Gaga told Jay Leno that Madonna actually contacted her saying she loved the song. Read about it here. Besides the shoulder horns, I enjoyed the performances and the song. Maybe it is Madonnaesque but there are many differences between the two pop icons. Nothing makes me laugh more than this video I found on YouTube vid of Lady Gaga in her egg, yes she would not leave the egg. So odd but hilarious because who else would do something like this?
Cee Lo Green's did an incredible yet creepy muppet performance of his hit song "Fu-- You" was changed to "Forget You" with Gwyneth Paltrow! Yes Gwyneth can sing and wear the highest of heels if you didn't notice. I envy her style. The muppets creeped me out but what was even more alarming was Cee Lo's Sesame Street/King Kong feathered outfit. Gotta give the man credit for wearing that craziness.
Beiber fans were dissapointed to see the little guy lose to Esperanza Spalding but they went too far and hacked onto her Wikipedia page and wrote Beiber for Lyff and other obnoxious things. This woman is talented and an established Jazz musician. The first Jazz musician to win Best New Artist in 30 years, I'm pretty sure. Even though I never heard of her before the Grammys, I'm always a fan of the underdog. She even performed for Obama. Her hair is amazing too.
My favorite performance would have to go to Rihanna and Drake for "What's My Name?" because Rihanna is one fine individual and Drake is not so bad himself plus I'm obsessed with the song. Even the chemistry was amazing on stage between Ri Ri and Drake until he ran off somewhere. I also really liked the performance of Dolly Parton's "Joline" by Norah Jones, John Mayer, and Keith Urban. I even listened to it while I was getting ready for work this morning.
Cannot wait for the Oscars! <3
Well I am currently at my internship and it is time to get back to work.
Good bye lovers.
An EGG? Gaga, keep the craziness coming, i'm obsessed. I guess I can see similarities in Madonna and Gaga but who cares, they're both great, and Madonna's getting too old, we need someone young to keep the wacky craze alive. Thanks for the grammy update, I didn't get to watch! Good to hear that an established Jazz musician beat out Justin Beiber..THANK GOD the world is still some sort of rational. (i'm not a beibs fan in the least). I wouldn't ever associate Cee Lo Green with muppets but quite an interesting combo..i'll have to check it out.
